Although the DR coalition was formed in 2004, it wasn't until after the pay raise scandal of 2005 that DR began publishing a newsletter called Pay Watch. Originally sent only to reporters and editors, a growing list of citizens asked to be put on the mailing list. Each edition explored another aspect of the pay raise, its repeal and its repercussions.
As news media uncovered other problems with state government, DR replaced the Pay Watch series with Democracy Rising PA News, whose first edition appeared on February 9, 2006. Each edition looks at a few hot topics - or topics that should be hot - and asks the tough questions about them.
From time to time, DR has offered opinion columns to the state's newspapers, and during the 2006 lame-duck session of the legislature, we produced DR's Lame Duck Daily.
